State FFA Land Judging - 2nd Place Team

2013 2nd Place State Land Judging Team - NE Area
State land judging was held in Belleville, Kansas on October 3rd. The Holton Land judging team included Darien Klahr, Dean Klahr, Amber Searles, Sam Beauchamp with alternates Jennifer Hamlin, Brady Mulroy, and Matt Doud. They had the goal of going to National Land Judging this spring but fell short 30 some points to Washington County FFA who won the contest. Holton ended up tied for 2nd place with Jackson Heights and won the tie breaker.  Individually, Dean finished 4th overall and Samantha finished 6th.

The land judging team went to state expecting a hard competition and and a challenge. However they were all about the same with no trees, gullies, or wetness problems. "Two of the classes were pasture and that's what messed our team up the most. I personally didn't do as good as I should have for my last year but glad we got 2nd as a team and can't wait to see how next years team does," stated Darien Klahr.
