September Meeting

At the September chapter meeting we had 51 members present. We voted on a change in our points system and a new points system was adopted. We had cupcakes and refreshments for all of the members after the meeting.

We had out first committee meeting with a breakout session, they had a team building activity to see which committee could build the tallest spaghetti and marshmallow tower. The members also reviewed the points system revisions before it was voted on. The white committee won with a height of 21 1/4 inch. All committee assignments will be posted online and in the ag room.

Competitions

Greenhand Conference

We had 4 members in the top 20. Addison H tied for 16th, Tinsley B placed 6th, Rebekah D placed 4th, and Addison B placed 1st out of more than 400 people.

Fall CDE Day (Homesite Evaluation, Land Judging, Nursery and Landscape)

In Homesite Evaluation, the B team placed third overall Tristan SW placed seventh and Haidn N placed fifth and medaled. The A team placed second overall Emily H who placed ninth, Noah B placed fifth and medaled, and Samuel D placed fourth and medaled.

In Land Judging, the B team placed third overall and had two people in the top 10. Emma G placed seventh and Mara M placed second and medaled. The A team placed second overall, and had four people in the top 10. Jace H placed eighth, Wyatt S placed seventh, Lora L placed fourth and medaled and Aaralyn A placed third and medaled.

In Nursery and Landscape, the B team placed 1st overall with four people in the top 10. Havilah M placed 8th, Kennedy S placed 4th and medaled, Sierra V placed 3rd and medaled and Lucas W placed 1sr and medaled. The A team placed 1st as well with all four members of the team in the top 10. Maddy B placed 6th, Lora L placed 4th, Jace H placed 2nd, and Jacob H placed 1st.

State Land Judging and Homesite Evaluation

The State Homesite Team placed 2nd overall and Haidn N placed 6th and Samuel D placed 11th at JCN on September 28th.

The Land Judging Team placed 2nd overall and Lora L placed 4th and medaled, Aaralynn A placed 8th and Mara M placed 10th at JCN on September 28th.

Members Breakfast

We hosted a breakfast before school on the 25th for all members. We had biscuits and gravy, muffins, fruit and juice. 



Fruit Sales

We have kicked off our annual fruit sales on October 5th and we will collect everything on November 10th. We encourage members to sell fruit, they will receive 0.1 points for every item sold as well as cash prizes for the top sellers.


National Proficiency Award Interview

On September 20th Delaney New interviewed as a National Finalist in her Diversified Livestock Proficiency Award. Delaney will find out how she places at National Convention at the end of the month. Good Luck Delaney! 

ENR Team Prepares for National Competition

The ENR team consisting on Lora L, Jacob H, Jace H, and Maddy B has been practicing since June. The team has been working general knowledge tests, ID, GPS, Waste management, and Water Quality. The team will participate on November 1st and 2nd. Good Luck!

National Convention Attendees

Addison Bontrager will attend National Convention as the Top Greenhand. Alysse B, Tristan SW, and Wyatt S, will attend for having the most points in 2022-23.

Mr. Larison Serves as National Proficiency Finalist Judge

Mr. Larison served as a Judge for the National Poultry Proficiency Award and gave his input on who he thought should be the National

State Fair

8th grader Leighton M entered a dish garden.


Junior Lora L entered a dish garden and placed 2nd and entered SAE photos and placed 4th.



Sophomore Kennedy Smith entered a Dish Garden and placed 1st in her age group and Grand Champion Horticulture Display. 
 

8th grader Miah S entered a pumpkin and received Reserve Champion and 1st place in her age division.

Sophomore Elisa B entered a pumpkin and placed 4th in her age division. 

Sophomore Havilah M entered a pumpkin and placed 10th in her age division.

Senior Alysse B entered a pumpkin.


Junior Maddy B entered a pumpkin and placed 7th in her age division. 


Junior Kayden D entered a concrete pumpkin into the small decorative project category and placed 4th.

Junior Shianne K entered a SAE photos and placed 9th. 


Junior Noah B entered a football helmet in the small computer numerical control project category and placed 9th. 

In the Classroom

Horticulture 2

The horticulture 2 class has been working on their raised beds in class and are almost done. The class has almost finished all the beds and one of them is planted with turnips and radishes and one with lettuce. The horticulture 2 class also transplanted their poinsettias into larger pots and fertilized them for the first time.

Ag Fabrications, Ag Welding, and Ag Business

The classes are working on refinishing the backboards and the rims, balls, court stencil and equipment has been ordered and will be in next week.

Plant and Animal Science And 8th Grade Exploratory Ag

The plant and animal science class and 8th grade exploratory ag class worked on swine ear notching and animal ID systems.
