4 Members Attend Washington Leadership Conference

  •  On June 11th-16th four members traveled to our nation's capitol to attend WLC. These members were Emaleigh Clark, Rilee VanDonge, Karl Wilhelm, and Dean Klahr. During this conference FFA members around the Country toured the sites of D.C., participated in premier leadership workshops, and took part in a service learning project. The major goal of the conference put on by National FFA was to inspire members to come back and make a positive difference in their local communities.
  • During the week, Rilee got to meet with Senator Roberts while Ema, Dean, and Karl got to meet with Representative Jenkins. Very cool that both are Holton High School Graduates serving in Congress and were able to take the time to meet with our members.
  • We would like to thank the Holton FFA Alumni, Jackson County Farm Bureau, Denny and Eunice Klahr family, Kellerman Insurance, Kellerman Real Estate, Farmer's State Bank, Holton National Bank, Jarrod Bowser/Purple Wave Auction Company, Holton FFA and Jackson Farmer's Inc. for their generous sponsorship of this trip.
2 Members Attend Kansas Youth Range Camp
  • Jordynn Brown and Isaac Bohnenkemper had the privilege to attend the Youth Range Camp sponsored by the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts June 25-28th.  The event was held at Camp Mennoscah in Kingman County.  Students learned range place identification, plant growth, stocking rate determination, livestock nutrition, rangeland wildlife management, and much more.  A huge thanks to the Jackson County Conservation District for sponsoring their trip.
Elizabeth has Busy First Month as State Sentinel
  • Since State Convention has ended, it has been a busy month for our very own Elizabeth Allen.  She has attended CTSO Training (Career and Technical Student Organization) with the other state officer teams such as FACS, FBLA, HOSA, etc.  Her team has also done FFA BLAST Off training and attended the National Leadership Conference for State Officers.  The month of June wrapped up with the new State Officer Team planning and preparing for the State Conference for Chapter Leaders at Rock Springs.  Congrats again Elizabeth.  Very exciting to know you are off to such a good start.
Officers Attend State Conference for Chapter Leaders
  • On July 1-3, nine chapter officers loaded up with Mr. Bartel and Mr. Larison to attend the Kansas FFA State Conference for Chapter Leaders (SCCL) held at Rock Springs Ranch in Junction City.  The leaders learned what it means to be a member of the team, gained officer training on their duties, and collaborated with FFA chapter leaders from across the state.  The conference was hosted by the Kansas FFA Officer team.  Darien, Jennifer, Dean, Ema, Karl, Rilee, Justin, and Elizabeth all grew as chapter leaders during the trip and had chapter specific time to start planning activities for the year.

Everyone is working hard to be at the best they can come competition time this fall.
  • Members of the Nationals team are Nick Myers, Isaac Bohnenkemper, Haley Rhule, and Emaleigh Clark.  Thanks to Mr. Bartel for coaching us!
SAE Projects Underway
  •  Summer is a time where many members make lots of progress and log in many hours on their SAE projects.  Members - make sure you are keeping track of your hours worked and getting some action pictures from time to time.  Ask a parent or friend to come and take some good action shots showing skills you can do.  In January it is not possible to get good pictures working in the hayfield, garden, or mowing a lawn.  Those proficiency applications will be better for it.  NOW IS THE TIME!!!
